Overview:
Nick provides a full range of patent attorney services and counsel to clients of all sizes, including original drafting and prosecution for many direct clients. He deals with inventions relating to materials science, physical sciences and engineering. He is experienced in managing broad, multi-jurisdictional patent families. Nick is a member of the firm’s Designs team and files a high number of registered design applications each year. He heads the firm’s Energy sector and is active in promoting the firm in the UK and abroad, in particular in the MidWest USA and Japan.
Nick has in-house experience gained from secondments to two major multinational companies. He studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, specialising in materials science and metallurgy.
Experience:
- Helped research-intensive SME client looking to boost its patent portfolio by providing basic patent training for its technical staff
- Supported academic client’s commercialisation activities by presenting to groups of scientists and engineers to raise IP awareness
- Drafted and prosecuted patent applications relating primarily to hydrocarbon exploration technology while on secondment at a multinational energy company
