- Human oversight. An attorney reviews and verifies any AI‑assisted output before it is used.
- Approved tools only. We assess tools against privacy, security and reliability criteria before we use them.
- Training and control. Our team is trained on safe and effective use of AI and follows our internal policies.
Your choices:
- You can opt out. If you prefer that we do not use AI on your matters, tell your usual Barker Brettell contact at any time. We’ll record your preference and confirm it in writing.
- You can change your mind later. We’ll apply your most recent instruction.
What we will not do:
- We will not rely on AI as a substitute for legal judgment.
- We will not disclose your confidential information to AI tools unless appropriate safeguards are in place.
- We will not use AI in ways that would lower the standard of our work or your protections.
