Exam success for Barker Brettell’s patent team

We are pleased to welcome David Combes and Neil Kilpatrick to the ranks of fully qualified UK patent attorneys. Both are now Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys following success in the recent qualifying examinations.

John Lawrence, Senior Partner, said: “Their great achievements in the exams are down to the hard work they have both put in, and their excellent attitude and ability.  Also my thanks to the support of the teams involved in training them. It is always good to welcome new attorneys to the fold. I have already warned them however, that they will continue to find new tricky things until the day they retire! That is what keeps us all sharp. Congratulations – and good luck.”

David has prosecuted patent applications for inventions related to aerospace, fuel systems, oil and gas, defence, semiconductors, laboratory instruments and Microsystems. He worked as an inventor at QinetiQ before joining the patent profession in 2010.

Neil’s expertise is varied, having worked extensively in the areas of medical devices, mechanical inventions, automotive, semiconductors and lithography.  Neil joined Barker Brettell in 2013 after several years training at another large firm of patent attorneys.
