One of the trade mark partners of Barker Brettell has been praised highly in the well respected World Trademark Review Yearbook for 2014/2015.

The article refers to Catherine Wiseman, based in the Birmingham Office of Barker Brettell and says of her “A specialist in orchestrating freedom to use searches and advising on registrability, Catherine Wiseman is an excellent and commercially focused trademark attorney. The multilingual partner also handles conflicts and negotiations with a light yet effective touch.”

This praise for one of our trade mark team follows closely on from Barker Brettell being listed in the top ten for both UK trade mark filers and UK firms filing Community trade marks in recently released data.

The trade mark team acts for a wide range of domestic and overseas clients, from small-to-medium enterprises, to large national and multinational companies, advising on adoption and registration of new marks around the world, in particular UK, Community (European) and international marks, brand management, intellectual property strategy, benchmarking, conflict and enforcement matters, licensing, franchising and assignments, domain names disputes, customs and company name tribunal matters. The trade mark team currently has 13 skilled attorneys of varying experience, who are supported by a team of experienced and qualified trade mark administrators. The trade mark team has recently been strengthened with the appointment of trainee Alessio Brotto, a native Italian speaker, fluent in English, French and Spanish, as well as trainee Sri Dhevi Santhana Dass, a qualified Malaysian advocate solicitor and UK solicitor, fluent in English, Malay and Tamil.
