Barker Brettell opens Munich office

Barker Brettell has now opened a Munich office; strengthening the firm’s European presence and providing a convenient meeting place for clients appearing before the EPO.

Senior partner John Lawrence said: “Opening a European office was always on the cards but recent events have persuaded us to do this sooner rather than later. While our attorneys travel extensively around the world meeting clients, they are most often in Munich so it makes commercial sense for us to have our own base there, within a very short distance of the EPO. We’re confident that this office will enable us to offer even more to our clients, both now and in the future.”

Post Brexit

“To address the Brexit question, it’s still very much business as usual for the foreseeable – nothing has changed. We’re expecting Britain’s EU membership to be replaced with other trade arrangements in the future but whatever happens, the Munich office will ensure we can continue to file at the EUIPO. Therefore there will be no change whatsoever for our clients – we will continue to focus on what we always have, which is delivering a high quality service to individuals, businesses and organisations throughout the world.”
