We are looking for a Patent Attorney to join our existing team, based at our Birmingham office, with a technical background in electronics and physics. The ideal candidate will also be capable of handling mechanical work and will be recently CPA and EPA qualified (eg at least 3 years’ experience in the profession). However, candidates awaiting results in either qualification will also be considered.

The person is required to provide support primarily to an experienced and very busy Partner as well as work towards developing their own client portfolio over the short to medium time.

We are looking for a Patent Attorney to join our existing and expanding team, based at our office near the Cambridge Science Park with a technical background in electronics, physics or related field and a solid foundation in the Intellectual Property profession.

The ideal candidate will also be capable of handling mechanical work and will be recently CPA and EPA qualified (eg at least 4 years experience in the profession). However, candidates awaiting results in either qualification will also be considered.

Although the role will initially assist with a workload for existing clients, the primary aim will be to establish a client base of their own and develop a high degree of autonomy. An aptitude for marketing will therefore be extremely desirable.

Part Qualified Patent Attorneys – Birmingham (3 positions)

We are looking for Patent Attorneys to join our existing and expanding teams in our Birmingham office.

We are looking for Patent Attorneys with a technical background in physics, with 3 to 4 years’ experience in the profession. For one of the positions an understanding of electronics is desirable. The ideal candidates will also be capable of handling a variety of mechanical work, having at least some UK finals or EQEs, or be awaiting results of these. Candidates with differing experience, in particular those who have recently qualified, will also be considered.

For all our trainee positions, a structured training programme is provided with the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide variety of work. Trainees are given study leave and a training budget and we have an excellent examination success rate.

We are looking for a Trainee Patent Attorney with a technical background in chemistry or chemical engineering and 2 or more years’ experience in the profession. You will be capable of handling a variety of patent work including general mechanical work and will be part or recently qualified at UK or EPA standard or alternatively awaiting results in the latter qualification.

Finance Manager

We currently have a vacancy for a Finance Manager to head up our busy Finance department. This position will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of efficient and accurate financial support to the Partnership and clients.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of proactively managing a target driven mid-sized full-service multi-currency Finance Department within a partnership or corporate environment. You will be able to utilise your prior experience in a similar role to prepare and report to the business on matters such as financial reporting, budgeting processes and financial systems along with preparing and presenting final annual accounts to the auditors.

This is a very ‘hands-on’ role with direct responsibility for pro-actively managing both internal client relationships and staff development. The ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the firm is a must. Whilst a suitable qualification in accounting is an advantage, previous experience is more important

Patent Team Secretary - London Office

We currently have a vacancy at our busy London office for a Patent Secretary who wants to progress within a secretarial role and learn about patent work. Whilst full training is provided, some previous experience within a secretarial or administrative role is essential.

The ideal candidate for this role will have strong organisational skills and be keen to learn. Accuracy and attention to detail are of paramount importance. You must also be a hard working individual who works well both within a small team and independently. You must have the ability to work accurately when under pressure to meet deadlines and be able to prioritise work. A comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Word, accurate copy typing and good keyboard skills are required. As part of a small team, you will be required to have a flexible approach to your work. You should have a minimum of a GCSE grade B or equivalent in English Language.
