Trainee Patent Attorney
We are looking for a trainee patent attorney to join the Southampton office. For all of our trainee positions, a structured training programme is provided and each trainee will work directly with a qualified attorney as well as having exposure to other attorneys and support staff in order to gain full experience of the profession. Trainees are given a training budget and study leave as well as a comprehensive benefits package, which includes bonus, contributory pension, life insurance, private medical insurance and permanent health insurance.
We are looking for a Physics graduate with a minimum 2:1 degree. Candidates with up to two years experience will also be considered.
Candidates should be highly motivated with good interpersonal skills. An interest in law as well as a knowledge of the French or German language would be advantageous.

Patent Attorney
Barker Brettell are a successful firm of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys who currently employ 30+ Fee Earners across our offices in London, Southampton and our head office in Birmingham. Having recently moved our head office to new, larger, state of the art premises to accommodate past and future growth, we are now seeking a Physics/Hi-Tech Patent Attorney to join our Birmingham office. Candidates will ideally be up to 3 years post qualified but other levels of experience will also be considered. We will also consider other technologies for those candidates with aptitude and proven experience in their field.
The successful candidate will work closely with the lead Partner in the group and will work pro-actively to contribute towards the development of the group and of the business - an enthusiastic, dynamic and outgoing approach to work is therefore essential. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work independently and to work directly with small, medium and large industrial clients and universities in the UK and overseas, as well as universities and overseas firms of Attorneys. There is a good body of existing work for the role and in addition to this the successful candidate will have the brief to grow their own portfolio of clients with a view to becoming independently busy over time.
