Lisa deals in all aspects of Trade Mark work, including advising upon the availability and registration of Trade Marks and the filing and prosecution of UK, Community, Overseas and International Trade Mark applications. She is also regularly involved in coordinating Trade Mark infringement and counterfeiting actions particularly in the Far East in China, Hong Kong and Korea.
Lisa deals with a large range of clients ranging from individuals to small to medium businesses and also assists in the management of the Trade Mark portfolios of several large national and multinational clients giving her experience of working with clients in a range of differing fields.
Lisa has also worked on secondment at a large multinational tele-communications company, assisting in their Trade Mark department. Lisa has experience in handling matters before the UK Trade Marks Registry, the Community Trade Mark Office (OHIM) and the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) including experience in reviewing and recording licence and assignment agreements, collating evidence and filing, prosecuting and defending applications and oppositions.
Lisa joined the Trade Marks Department of Barker Brettell in January 2002 and commenced training for the professional examinations in 2003. She subsequently qualified in 2006 and was awarded the Payne-Bennett Memorial Award for achieving the highest mark in the country for one of her final examinations relating to the analysis of searches and the availability of proposed Marks. Lisa became an Associate in 2008.
Lisa obtained an Honours Degree in Law at the University of Glamorgan before completing the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Bristol, specialising in a wide range of legal subjects including business law and civil litigation. This course offered academic training but focused on practical skills such as client care and settlement negotiation.
Lisa enjoys swimming, reading, yoga and socialising with friends and family.
